Car Insurance Is A Must Buy
The cost of driving these days just seems to be getting higher and higher. First there's the vehicle to buy and then of course the associated gas, tags and maintenance bills. But, that's not all. Car insurance is a vital purchase that should not be overlooked. In some cases, it might be even more important than the purchase of the vehicle itself.
While no one really wants to spend the extra money each month to make sure a vehicle is properly insured, the expense can be worth its weight in gold when a problem happens. Minor fender benders and even major ones happen every day, at all hours, all over the world. While there are things drivers can do to avoid crashes, they oftentimes are beyond a person's control and even when they're not, insurance can save the day.
By covering drivers, passengers, the property of others and the vehicles themselves, auto insurance policies ensure there's a way to clean up most messes after they occur. Depending on the type of coverage purchased, a car insurance policy can even provide a rental car for use during the period immediately following a crash.
Given a good policy's ability to help a driver get back up and running quickly, it's little wonder most motorists wouldn't be caught without a solid policy. This, of course, is a good thing since insurance is the law. No matter what state a driver is from there are minimum limits for coverage on vehicles. If a car or driver doesn't have the coverage, the vehicle is not considered legal on the road.
Why is this?
It's simple. Driving is a privilege; not a right. It's up to motorists to prove themselves responsible enough to drive. But since bad things do happen to even the most careful of drivers, the law says insurance needs to be in place to safeguard against any unfortunate eventualities.
At the very minimum, most states require basic personal injury protection insurance and property damage to protect the belongings of others. Policies may also include comprehensive and collision, which covers the driver's vehicle in a crash and other forms of liability insurance.
A lucky driver will go a lifetime without ever having to make a claim on their policy, but for those who aren't so lucky, a good plan can really make a difference in helping a driver get back on their feet after a crash. Insurance is not only a required purchase for a motorists, it's a smart one, too.
